about

why do we need to act now?
we have approximately 11 years until the damage we have done to our Earth is irreversible, and our future goes downhill from there. between 2030 and 2050 climate change is expected to cause approximately 250,000 additional deaths a year. we simply cannot and will not thrive as a species in the future unless we become more sustainable now
'"I'm just one person, what difference can I make?"
every action you make matters. if 8 billion people all believe they're just one person, it's just one bottle, then it's no longer just one. we need to stop pushing responsibility on others and take responsibility for the destruction of our planet as well as being the ones who try to fix it. if you start as just you, making simple lifestyle changes then eventually it could spread to family, friends, your community. changes are simple, and will make a difference

our planet is dying and only few people are caring. we all need to take action. we all do something before it’s too late. it’s horrific to see people dismissing this as if everything is fine, it’s not. we need to take action, all of us.

what have we already lost?

our lifestyles and society have already made many negative impacts on our planet, some things we have hope for; a possibility to reverse in the future. however, we need to be realistic and see what we have lost and won't be able to recover, these are a few of those things
~in the last 100 years alone around 500 species have became completely extinct, compared to the 9 that would be expected at natural rates
~we have an estimated 11-12 years until the damage we have created via climate change becomes irreversible, meaning we have to act now whilst we still can
~there is around 41,415 on the IUCN Red List, around 16,306 of these species are currently at threat of extinction. imagine a future where you're telling your grandchildren stories of sea turtles, gorillas or even giraffes as if they were mythological creatures
~livestock is the world's largest user of land resources, representing around 80% of the total agricultural resources
~the Earth is losing around 18.7 million acres of forests per year, which is equivalent to around 27 soccer fields every minute. forests can be regrown, however the animals who are losing their homes cannot just be regrown
~half of the world's wetlands have been lost since 1990
~the global sea level rose around 6.7 inches in the last century, however the rate in the last decade was almost double that

this is just a fraction of the terrifying impacts we have made, but hope is not completely lost yet!

what can you do?

there are so many small changes you can make that can make an impact, here are a few!
~environmentally friendly lightbulbs! use them in your home and workplace/school (if possible) as well as turning off lights you're not using
~buy bars of soap, shampoo and conditioner to avoid the plastic used to make bottles
~purchase reusable bags, tupperware/containers and bottles!
~reduce your dairy and meat intake - not saying you have to go vegan but even consuming just a bit less can help!
~take shorter showers and avoid baths!
~bamboo toothbrushes, razors, etc.
~if you have the choice, try and make sure as many things as possible you use/purchase are biodegradable and/or sustainable
~try and walk wherever possible, and use public transportation if not (if you can)
~recycle! it's easy and helps loads! also use a compost bin, if you have space for one!
~learn to love leftovers! there's nothing wrong with them, so don't waste them!
~turn off televisions, computers etc. overnight!
~protest or strike if you have the ability! but don't strike school if you're going to fall behind but if you can then do it! striking school shows adults that if they don't care about our future; why should we? we might not have a future if the planet continues this way
~your efforts don't have to be global to matter! start local!

of course there are many more ways, but this page would be endless if I was to list them all!
